The garden, also acquired from
Williamson Magor in 2001, is one of the best bargains in
Shah’s kitty.
The unique liquoring properties of the Gingia leaves were
established way back in 1926. Between 1948 and 1960, rare seed
stock of orthodox teas were selected and planted here, and
till date, Gingia regularly achieves quality certifications
from the Tea Board of India. The "Gingia" mark is globally
associated with top quality Orthodox, and is acclaimed in
countries like the UK, Germany and Holland.
Shah has carried out extensive replanting and rejuvenation at
Gingia using quality clones and stocks to maintain the same
quality standard, and modern machinery like dryers have been
installed. Emphasis is laid on safe Molecular insecticide
usage as per WHO and FAO specifications.
