The name "Hattialli" is derived
from the Assamese words "Hatti Alli", meaning Elephant Road,
so called on account of a neighbouring elephant camp.
An estate with a century-old tradition of excellence,
Hattialli belongs to the Jokai group of gardens acquired from
Rossell Industries Ltd in 2005. Its factory is the first in
Assam to be awarded the prestigious ISO 9002 certification in
1996.
With a clonal area of 164 hectares out of a total of 405
hectares under plantation, Hattialli produces around a million
kg annually. It is famous for golden tippy high quality
Orthodox teas, with its liquor maintaining the right balance
between briskness and mellowness.
For the last few years, the produce of this garden has been of
consistent quality, satisfying buyers in West Asia and the
Continent. Perhaps the biggest compliment comes from the
luxury store Harrod's in London, which sells its teas under
the brand "Hattialli''.
