Tea being an agricultural
commodity depends heavily on nature. Factors like the pattern
of rainfall or the number of hours of sunlight etc., affect
the tea bushes in many ways. Hence it is of great importance
that these factors of nature operate in perfect harmony.
For tea bushes in Assam, every year the time between May to
July, known as second flush in tea jargon, is considered as
the best period, as during this time, the entire Assam belt
experiences good rain showers in the nights followed by bright
sunlight during the days, a type of weather which is most
conducive for cultivating this crop. Hence undoubtedly, the
tea produced during this period is of a much better quality as
compared to that produced during the rest of the year.
At “MK”, we believe that for every kind of tea produced, there
is a market. Hence we chose the best of the very best produced
during this period, and reserve it for the niche but premium
tea markets.
Germany and Japan are two such markets who trade heavily for
Indian Tea, but only during these two to three months. These
countries require golden tipped orthodox teas, which can be
produced only during this period.
Keeping this requirement in mind, our estates of Gingia,
Seajuli, Hattialli, Panitola and Koilamari, known for their
strategic locations and appropriate weather conditions produce
some of the finest golden tipped orthodox teas. In fact such
is the fame of these properties, that the world renowned store
of Harrods at London, markets teas produced by
our estate of Hattialli under the brand name of the estate
itself.
These teas are made very selectively and exquisitely for the
needs of the markets which demand them, thus they are very
highly priced. Golden Tipped teas produced under the banner of
MK are widely sought throughout these markets, and every year
private as well as public tea auctions are held for these
premium teas where buyers from these countries and their
agents keenly bid for them.
